Sometimes, when a TV show ends, it usually gets a second life on the big screen. I realize that a big part of this is all about marketing and movie executives getting more money * cough* Sex and the City *cough*. Seldom do we see a television series developed as a movie because fans clamor for it. Unless we’re talking about Firefly/Serenity. Or Dead Like Me (as a straight to DVD release).
I don’t understand what the second X-Files movie is for (X-Files: I Want To Believe). I love the series but the first movie shown ten years ago wasn’t exactly a good one, why have a second? I’m not even excited about an Arrested Development movie. I somehow get the feeling this isn’t gonna work as a movie. TV is its better medium.
So then color me very surprised when I read this at Dark Horizons just a few minutes ago: A MacGyver Movie in Development? Whatever for?
Dear Hollywood,
Please stop bastardizing my favorite TV shows by doing a crappy, unsubstantial movie version. They usually tank and do not end up making big bucks anyway.
These shows went off the air leaving me with many good memories that I sometimes tell my 10-year old about.
Besides, you change a lot of aspects for the movie, sometimes even changing the original stars and the original story.
You’re so ruining it for me.
