Brothers and Sisters: Separation Anxiety

And they’re back…

The Walkers are back. And how we’ve missed their crazy parties….where the evenings would always "descend into a brawl" (copyright Holly). What were they arguing about this time?

Before we get to that, we have to step back to three months ago, pre-writers’ strike and try to remember what happened:

  • Sarah was getting it on with Graham, their company’s new business partner.
  • Tommy was having huge problems in his marriage to Julia.
  • Kitty was on a campaign trail with presidentiable hubby, Robert.
  • Kevin was being a drama queen about his relationship problems, the two men in his life.
  • Justin remained a druggie.
  • Rebecca was suspecting that guy her mom has been seeing is her real dad. Her mom denied it.
  • And Nora was dating her son-in-law’s campaign wizard, Isaac.

Now, that’s all clear…let’s get back to tonight’s episode, where the writers of the series cleverly skips three months to open with Rebecca’s 22nd birthday.

What’s new with Walkers?

  • Sarah is still with Graham.
  • It seems Tommy and Julia worked out whatever problems they were having.
  • Curiously, Robert has dropped out of the race and is trying to have a baby with Kitty.
  • Kevin’s still being a drama queen, but there are no signs of his men around.
  • Justin seems to have sobered up.
  • Rebecca still suspects mom’s boyfriend is her Dad.
  • And Nora has surprisingly said yes when Isaac asked her to move with him to Washington DC.

Naturally, the Walker siblings worry for their mother’s well-being and sanity. Is she really moving away with Isaac? Who will she bother there? Whose affairs will she meddle into? And the bigger question is — who’s going to host those crazy parties when she’s gone?

In the middle of the party, in between wishing their half-sister, Rebecca, a Happy Birthday, a confrontation happens between Nora and the kids. And she lets out a heartfelt speech…and then later basically tells Isaac she can’t go with him.

The Walkers sure feel like an actual, real family when things aren’t perfect between them and their mom gets crazy ballistic.

Meanwhile, Rebecca receives a gift from her mother’s boyfriend — a necklace that’s like a family heirloom, which has upset Holly no less because it looked to her like David was telling her daughter she was his father. Holly and David argue about it and Justin overhears the fact. He tells Rebecca about what he’s heard (Kevin’s right, Justin is a tattle-tale!) The next day, the siblings go to the clinic to have Rebecca’s DNA tested against David…and that basically guarantees one fact: there’s more drama ahead!
