She’s usually the one person viewers would see crying over someone else’s departure from American Idol. But tonight, Ramiele Malubay cries for no one but herself, as viewers decidedly voted it was time for her to go.
To be fair though, the decision was correct. Ramiele, sadly, was the weakest performer on Dolly Parton night, prompting Simon to say that she would have to be "forgettable".
The little girl had a very big voice. But hearing her sing for the last 8 weeks or so, left me unimpressed. She did show control but failed to bring power; a little bit of this and that. Hence, she failed to make her money shot.
Where else did Ramiele go wrong? She’s been picking songs that were already sang a million times by someone else in the contest. In doing so, she let herself become very vulnerable, that it was so easy to make a comparison. And so easy to pinpoint who fared well… and usually, it isn’t her.
When Ramiele sang "Alone" last week, it was what exactly Simon Cowell said — that Carly sounded better.
On the bright side, Ramiele would have easily won Cutest Idol. And she would definitely have a career once she visits the Philippines and after the Idol Tour is over.
It’s not so bad.
